Here's a long lost "Dead Monkeys" recording recovered from a cassette tape. Judging from the sound of it, it most likely would have been recorded sometime in the summer of 1987 during one of the many basement rehearsals on Old Mill Road. "Old Lady" is exemplary of the attempt to write more complex material with various rhythm and mood changes. My guess is that it was recorded on a stereo cassette deck with one channel hooked up to a room mic and the other channel hooked up to a PA line out. The recording was then mixed to mono, a typical Dead Monkey practice when there was no 4 track machine available. Visit the Dead Monkey Myspace Page for more information.

Man, this sounds great, Neal! I can't believe the thick yet present sound you got from the simple recording setup. Sabbath-via-SoCal vibe in the tones for sure. Good luck with the new 64 Studio setup, and I look forward to hearing more from you!
